CanUUdle XXV: AdventUUres on the High Seas!
Friday, May 16 at 6:00 pm ET – Monday, May 19 at 12:00 pm ET
Save the date! CanUUdle is happening in Montréal, Quebec from May 16-19th, 2025!
CanUUdle is the annual national conference for Unitarian Universalist youth (ages 14-19) and their adult advisors (25+).
It’s a beautiful weekend where youth and adults create an amazing community, worship together, grow as spiritual beings, and join in multigen activities. CanUUdle attendees stay overnight at the Unitarian Church of Montréal from Friday to Monday.
Don’t delay in registering! We require a minimum of 30 participants registered by April 15 for the program to go ahead.
Program – A message from this year’s Co-Deans
The theme chosen by CanUUdle Staff this year is AdventUUres on the High Seas!
Ahoy, me hearties! Get ready to sail with mateys new and old at CanUUdle 2025. This year’s CanUUdle is for swashbucklers, shanty-lovers, and all who love the briny deep. Expect treasure hunts, good grub, and good old fashioned nautical fun this May long weekend. Yarrr!
— Your captains, Percy and Esmé
Check back for more details on the theme and schedule over the next few months.
Staff Team
CanUUdle is planned and run by an amazing volunteer team of youth and adults. These are your CanUUdle Staff for 2025:
- Co-Deans: Esmé Demers (Vancouver) and Percy Bomford-Moore (Vancouver)
- Worship Coordinators: Dan LeDuc (Winnipeg/Peterborough), Laura Yee (Burnaby)
- Activities Coordinators: Harper Fountain-Stevens (Vancouver), Quinn Koeller Smirnios (Waterloo)
- Chalice Circle Coordinator: Rose Chernoff (Vancouver)
- Community Captain: Ben Smith (Victoria)
- Social Media Coordinator: Katharine Rouse (Victoria/Kirkland, WA)
- Youth Chaplain: TBD
- Adult Chaplain: Yvette Salinas (Montreal) and Advisors’ Advisor: Tim Murphy (Indianapolis)
- CanUUdle Coordinator – CUC Staff: Raven Booth (Halifax)
There will be opportunities for others to contribute to the con in small yet important ways, such as facilitating small groups (Chalice Circles) and leading short energy breaks with a stretch, a song, or something silly! Look for the sign-ups on your registration form.
Adult Advisors
CanUUdle is for advisors, too! Learn more about what’s involved with being an adult advisor at this con on the Adult Advisors page. Adult Advisors need to have a Congregational Involvement Form submitted on their behalf by a church staff or board member.
Our host site: the Unitarian Church of Montréal
We are very grateful to the Montréal Unitarians for hosting us and providing volunteer support!
Costs for CanUUdle are kept low because our accommodations are not fancy – we will be sleeping in the church building! Most of us will sleep on the floor, so bring your own bedding. Those who live locally are welcome to sleep at home.
Bridging Events
At some point during the weekend, CanUUdlers and local young adults will get together to mark the important transition of bridging, when members of our communities move between youth and young adulthood, as well as those who are entering the youth community and those ageing out of the young adult community. These events include a special catered dinner and activities for bridging youth to get to know the young adults, as well as the Bridging Ceremony.
Advisors who are within the YA age range (25-35) are also welcome to attend these events. Youth who would like to bridge this year should indicate this on their registration form. Bridging is about life stage, not age – you are welcome to bridge as many times as feels right for you.
Cost & Financial Support
Registration is offered on a sliding scale, from $100 – $200. The cost per person to run this event is $150. If you are able to pay more than the middle tier, your contribution helps to cover the cost for those who cannot pay as much.
Additionally, subsidies are available to help with registration costs. If the lowest registration tier presents a barrier, please indicate you are applying for a subsidy and your registration will be covered. Some funds to help with travel costs are available, register by March 31 to apply for a travel subsidy. For more information on the Rev. Rod Fund for Youth and Young Adults, click here.
