You’re Invited to the second CUC – Truth, Healing and Reconciliation Reflection Group – National Movie Night on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. Registration must be completed by February 21, 2018.

Hosted by members of our Truth, Healing and Reconciliation Reflection Guide (THRRG) Team, we will explore themes of colonization, racism and Indigenous resilience. Based on the successful Young Adult THRRG format, participants will view a film and read supporting materials the week prior to attending the Reflection Group, Thursday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m., Eastern. This online Reflection Group will follow a sharing circle format that continues the themes and Enduring Understandings developed by the THRRG Task Force for the film, ReelInjun.

We have chosen to re-screen the film Reel Injun, by Neil Diamond for anyone who missed the first viewing opportunity. The purpose of this film is to encourage us to think about stereotypes and resilience from a personal place and to engage in Truth-telling and Truth-hearing with a better understanding of the history of Indigenous Peoples in film.

It’s simple to join in!

  1. Register here by February 21, to receive the permission to watch Reel Injun.

  2. You will have 1 week to watch the film and review the reflection questions. The permissions will be shared by email on February 22, 2018. (If you want to watch it with a group, please, let us know how many people watched the film by sending an email to reconciliation@cuc.ca)

  3. Join the Reflection Group on Thursday, March 1st, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.

Permission to view this film, its related reflection questions and a video conference link will be sent to those who register for the Reflection Group. Commitment matters! Registration to view the film indicates a firm commitment to attend.

If you have any questions, please email reconciliation@cuc.ca. We look forward to connecting with you!
