RAMP!  Reciprocal Annual Mentorship Program

April Session: UUism and Social Enterprise

Saturday, April 25, 2026 – 10:00 am PT |  11:00  am MT  |  12:00 pm CT | 1:00 pm  ET  | 2:00 pm  AT  | 3:00 pm NT (90 min)

Join Shaun Loney as he explores why underused church buildings are not problems but actually opportunities in disguise, particularly for Unitarian Universalist communities whose values align with those of the majority of Canadians. Shaun will share how congregations can reenergize and redefine themselves by engaging the social enterprise movement.  He will offer examples of social enterprises operating in or by communities of faith.  Participants will also learn how to assess whether their property is a good fit for redevelopment and explore pathways forward for congregations with both high capacity and limited volunteer resources.

Shaun Loney (Ashoka Fellow and EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year) is the author of several books on social enterprise including An Army of Problem Solvers:  Reconciliation and the Solutions Economy and likes to pass along the wisdom he’s learned in his 20 years working in the social enterprise sector.  Shaun lives in Winnipeg where he is surrounded by wisdom of Indigenous Elders and a vibrant nonprofit sector.   He is also an active member of the United Church of Canada and is involved with several new community-based faith expressions including a $100 million property redevelopment that will include affordable housing and social enterprise partnerships and Camino Manitoba, a social enterprise that offers the benefits of contemplative walking close to home.  You can learn more about Shaun on his website www.shaunloney.ca

The Reciprocal Annual Mentorship Program, or RAMP!, is a four-month national pilot program from March to June 2026 designed to grow leadership capacity, strengthen intergenerational relationships, and equip UUs with practical tools for building justice-centered, sustainable, relationally grounded communities.

Alongside a mentorship stream, RAMP! offers a monthly Skill-Building Workshop stream open to everyone interested. These public workshops align with the program’s monthly themes and connect with other national programming such as Congregational Conversations and Dismantling Barriers.

April’s theme, Economics for Community Flourishing explores how UU communities sustain themselves through financial justice, regenerative models, and diverse economic engines. This theme moves beyond scarcity thinking, offering practical tools for building stability, scalability, and shared abundance.
