Program – A message from this year’s Co-Deans

Hello forest dwellers, as your CanUUdle XXVI Co-deans, we are SO ecstatic to welcome you to the 26th annual CanUUdle, The Spirit of NatUUre! We will be embarking on a marvelous journey of exciting spiritual growth and whimsical activities, such as covenant making, group bonding, art and crafts, and nightly worship. Throughout the duration of our adventure, congoers will get to be a part of a UU youth community built of members all across Canada.

In all seriousness, CanUUdle has been an incredible experience for the both of us, both as staff and as congoers, and we hope that whether you are a seasoned congoer, or a first time adventurer that you enjoy this mystical magical adventure with us.

See you soon!

Staff Team
CanUUdle is planned and run by an amazing volunteer team of youth and adults. These are your CanUUdle Staff for 2026:

  • Co-Deans: Quinn Koeller Smirnios & Isabella Vernon (Kitchener)
  • Worship Coordinators: Hawk Demers & Laura Yee (Vancouver)
  • Activities Coordinators: Esmé Demers & Percy Bomford-Moore (Vancouver)
  • Chalice Circle Coordinator: Rose Chernoff (Vancouver)
  • Community Captain: Crow Pogue (Indianapolis)
  • Youth Chaplain: Beata Borja Westin (Indianapolis)
  • Adult Chaplain: Tim Murphy (Indianapolis)
  • Advisors’ Advisor: Nancy Woodham (Vancouver)
  • CanUUdle Coordinator – CUC Staff: Raven Booth (Halifax)

There will be opportunities for others to contribute to the con in small yet important ways, such as facilitating small groups (Chalice Circles) and leading short energy breaks with a stretch, a song, or something silly! Look for the sign-ups on your registration form.

Adult Advisors

CanUUdle is for advisors, too! Learn more about what’s involved with being an adult advisor at this con on the Adult Advisors page. Adult Advisors need to have a Congregational Involvement Form submitted on their behalf by a church staff or board member.

New this year: All adult advisors at CanUUdle are now required to have a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) on file with their congregation or with the CUC.

  • If you have a current VSC (obtained in the past three years):

You or a leader in your congregation must forward a copy of the completed check to canuudle@cuc.ca

  • If you do not have a current VSC:

Please email canuudle@cuc.ca to receive the required documents and instructions to start the process of obtaining one.

Our Host Site: Vancouver Unitarians

We are very grateful to the Vancouver Unitarians for hosting us and providing volunteer support!
Costs for CanUUdle are kept low because our accommodations are not fancy – we will be sleeping in the church building! Most of us will sleep on the floor, so bring your own bedding.

Bridging Events

At some point during the weekend, CanUUdlers and local young adults will get together to mark the important transition of bridging, when members of our communities move between youth and young adulthood, as well as those who are entering the youth community and those ageing out of the young adult community. These events include a special catered dinner and activities for bridging youth to get to know the young adults, as well as the Bridging Ceremony.

Advisors who are within the YA age range (25-35) are also welcome to attend these events. Youth who would like to bridge this year should indicate this on their registration form. Bridging is about life stage, not age – you are welcome to bridge as many times as feels right for you.

Cost & Financial Support

Registration is offered on a sliding scale, from $120 – $220. Early-bird registration sliding scale is $100 – $200.

Additionally, subsidies are available to help with registration costs. If the lowest registration tier presents a barrier, please indicate you are applying for a subsidy and your registration will be covered. Some funds to help with travel costs are available, register by March 31 to apply for a travel subsidy. For more information on the Rev. Rod Fund for Youth and Young Adults, click here

Electronic Policy

Here at CanUUdle we prioritize building connections as a community and being present throughout the con, and we find that electronics often get in the way of this. That being said, we understand that congoers may want to have their devices on them for safety or personal reasons. We just ask that technology use is used appropriately, and use of electronics is restricted to during downtime at the con, unless otherwise specified. Please leave non-essential electronic devices at home so they do not get lost or broken!

Wanting to capture the many spectacular moments at CanUUdle? Fear not, our social media team will also be in charge of taking photos throughout the con, and congoers will have access to all the pictures through a drive folder shared with them at the end of the con. Youth are welcome to take photos to add to the drive as well, just make sure you’ve got everyone’s consent first!

Safety During CanUUdle

At CanUUdle, we strive to create a safe, supportive environment that follows our shared UU values. Hateful language (slurs) and/or actions, bigotry, and bullying/exclusionary behaviours, will not be tolerated during the con. Our differences are what make us unique, and as a Unitarian Universalist con we welcome all regardless of race, gender identity, ability, and sexuality.

Illegal Substances, Nicotine products, cannabis, alcohol, and weapons (including pocket knives) are also strictly prohibited, and could result in a phone call home, or in extreme cases, being sent home early.

We encourage you to take a look at our Youth Safety Policies, and contact canuudle@cuc.ca if you have any questions or concerns.
