Here are some Young Adult events planned for the weekend. You can attend all, or just a few of the events, even if you aren’t coming to the whole CUC conference.

Young Adult Mini-Con Part #1 – Friday, May 20, 12pm – 5pm

Cost: $10 – registration required

Description: This 2-part mini-con will offer an opportunity for UU Young Adults to start and finish the weekend together. Come on Friday before the conference to explore your creativity, get to know your peers, and start the weekend off with some mindfulness practice. This event will include a directed social justice discussion focused on sexual orientation, gender identity, and our relationships with ourselves and others.

You do not need to sign up for both mini-cons, if you can only attend one.

YA Social Event – Friday May 20, 9pm

Description: Let’s kick off the weekend with some fun! Following the Confluence Lecture, join in great conversation and company with some of your fellow UU Young Adults. This will be at a casual bar/snack type venue, eating and drinking are optional.

Cost: Whatever you want to eat and drink

Senior Youth & Young Adult Bridging Dinner – Saturday May 21, 5pm – 6:30pm

Cost: $15 – registration required

Description: Bridging can be both a scary and exciting time for youth. Let’s welcome youth into young adulthood by showing them that there is a community to transition into, and celebrate with good food! Now in its 9th year, the Bridging Dinner is a valuable opportunity for bridging youth (18-20) and young adults to get to know each other in a relaxed setting.

We are looking to carpool to this event from UBC. We will meet 45m in advance. Please join us for the worship afterwords – a 20 minute walk to the church.

Youth & Young Adult-led Worship and Bridging Ceremony – Saturday May 21, 8:30pm – 9:30pm

Cost: free, and you don’t need to register if you’re coming directly to the church.

Location: Unitarian Church of Vancouver

Description: Young Adults are invited to participate in this YaYA-led worship service that is for the whole Conference community. The service will feature a bridging ceremony to mark special life transitions as well as readings, reflections and music. We will walk together as a group from All India Sweets & Restaurant to the Unitarian Church of Vancouver

YA-led Workshop (Multigen day) – Sunday May 22, 1:30pm-3:30pm

Description: Come bridgers young and old, if you have questions to ask or stories to share.This fishbowl-style workshop invites you to come together and discuss individual and collective bridging experiences and transitions into new stages of UUism.

Location and cost: UBC at the conference, please register for the whole conference of for a one-day pass for Sunday.

Young Adult Mini-Con Part #2 – Monday, May 23, 9:30am – 1pm

Cost: $10 – registration required

Description: Gather again (or for the first time) in community following the conference. Part II of the mini-con will offer an opportunity to share your experiences of the weekend and learn what you missed. Join members of the UU Young Adults for Climate Justice Network to explore the role climate justice plays in the many other social issues touched on through the weekend. Help strategies about unique ways that young adults can lead the church to more profound action!

We will finish off the weekend with a social justice-themed worship.

You do not need to sign up for all events – just for the ones you are able to come to.

Registration: use the Adult Registration form to register. If you are not planning on also attending the Conference, select the option: I will not be attending the full Conference, but would like to attend some of the specialty meals/events.
