Memorial and Funeral Services

memorial candles burning in a trayPaying tribute to your loved one should mean more than a pre-packaged, one-size-fits-all service. Our lay chaplains will work to learn all they can about the person you are honouring – their personality, their interests, what they were most proud of accomplishing. We want to help you and your family through this difficult time by creating a ceremony that will allow you to start your journey of grieving in your own best possible way.

In situations where a death occurred some time ago but was never formally commemorated, we can help you create a memorial service to honour and celebrate your loved one’s life. This may bring the survivors closer together and create closure for those seeking a better ending.

As Unitarians, we can suggest and incorporate readings and prayers that are comforting and uplifting for you and your family from a range of religious and contemporary sources. We are more than willing to deliver services in special places that are meaningful to you or that were special to your loved one.

We will respond quickly to your requests. Our 40+ congregations across Canada have lay chaplains who are trained and supported to offer this service to the public.
