Vyda Ng – Executive Director

Vyda’s committed involvement with the Canadian Unitarian Council – first as a Board member, then as Board President, chair of two national CUC task forces, and in a number of other volunteer roles – helped her form strong relationships within the UU faith community. When she took on the staff role of Executive Director, that network of relationships became a solid base in helping build vital Unitarian communities in Canada. Her collaborative style of leadership and management is aimed at developing positive relationships and productive team building.

In addition to her experience within the Unitarian Universalist movement, Vyda has extensive prior experience working with vulnerable populations – people living with mental health challenges, survivors of abuse, the elderly, LGBTQ+ community, women and children, as well as young offenders. This counseling and advocacy work have contributed to her approach in working with people with diverse life experiences. Her history both within the UU movement and in other non-profit environments have built her approach to life and leadership style.

In her role as Executive Director to advance and support the work of the CUC, she manages a myriad of responsibilities, which include, among other things: 

• staff collaboration and supervision; 
• governance and policy support for congregations; 
• strategic planning and goals monitoring; 
• overseeing financial management and planning; 
• program and event planning and management; 
• support to the CUC Board of Trustees; 
• communications; 
• daily correspondence with congregations, individuals, and organizations;
• any other duties as required, including tech support! 

Her email inbox surprises her on a consistent basis and she says that the job never boring. 

Originally from Malaysia, she has inherited the Chinese and Malaysian cultures’ love for food and cooking. She came to Canada as a student, and has lived in Saskatoon SK, Winnipeg MB and St. John’s NL. Vyda is the single parent of three young adults, and now makes her home in Ontario.
