Brigitte Twomey – Web Specialist

Brigitte discovered Unitarian Universalism in 1992 and soon joined the Unitarian Congregation in Mississauga. She has been active serving her congregation on many committees, including board of directors, finance, religious exploration, OWL, youth mentoring and communications. She is currently their Web Specialist.

She is married to Bert (born in Ireland) and they have two adult children and one grandchild. Brigitte is a seasonal camper at Unicamp, an avid hiker and forager. Watch for her on the Bruce Trail.

She grew up in France in a French secular and Spanish catholic family. Brigitte’s lived experiences with refugees, resettlement, and immigration started very young. Her mother and family fled Spain and lived in refugee camps until they were settled. She believes that cultural awareness and sensitivity, respecting and adapting to cultural differences equals stronger, more effective communication and relationships. In partnership with a non-profit provincial association, she developed a professional integration guide to assist new francophone immigrants in navigating the Canadian employment landscape.

Brigitte has been self-employed for over 20 years as a Web Specialist and French Translator. She excels in problem solving, with an innate ability to investigate, seek out facts, and find solutions which serves her well in her position with the CUC.

Brigitte is thrilled to be the Web Specialist for the CUC, supporting their work with

  • Ongoing maintenance and management of the website
  • Designing and coordinating registration forms for events
  • Updating events and pages
  • Laying out the eNews
  • Populating and maintaining the CUC learning platform

It combines her two passions, website development and serving the Unitarian community.
