Adeoluwa Atayero – Communications Manager

Adeoluwa Atayero, a seasoned marketing and communications professional based in Saskatchewan, brings a wealth of experience to his role as Communications Manager for the Canadian Unitarian Council (CUC). Before making Canada his home, Adeoluwa worked extensively in Lagos, Nigeria, where he served as a reporter, content manager, and communications consultant. His portfolio includes collaborations with prominent media organizations like CBC and BlackHouse Media, as well as consultancy work for multinationals such as Viacom. Additionally, he has contributed to Canadian organizations like Greenpeace Canada and DEPtH Lab. In his role at CUC, Adeoluwa is entrusted with the overarching responsibility of shaping the council’s communications, positive image, and branding for member congregations, stakeholders, and the general public. His duties encompass:

  • Communications Strategy: Implementing a comprehensive strategy that delineates the objectives and processes for CUC’s outreach and revenue generation activities. This strategy encompasses internal and external communications, media activities, priorities, timelines, target audiences, staff assignments, and resource allocation.
  • Team Coordination: Leading and supervising the communications team, ensuring cohesive and effective collaboration among team members.
  • Website Management: Collaborating with staff and the Web Manager to provide fresh and updated content, manage posts and event publicity, and ensure user-centered content.
  • Social Media Oversight: Managing CUC’s social media presence to maximize engagement and impact.
  • Media and Public Relations: Proactively addressing issues of interest to Unitarian Universalists through well-researched, timely, and articulate letters and media statements. Adeoluwa ensures responsible representation of the council and its events, highlighting valuable resources for congregations and leaders.
  • Email and Online Communications: Coordinating email groups, managing posts, and updates to facilitate effective communication among members.
  • Content Creation: Writing and managing content for newsletters, blogs, and other communication channels.
  • Event Coordination: Building relationships and generating content by coordinating staff communications and attending events as required.
  • Fundraising Communications: Collaborating with the Executive Director and CUC Board to plan and execute donor communications effectively.

Originally from Nigeria, Adeoluwa holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Regina. His diverse background and international experience enrich his approach to communications, allowing him to connect with a broad range of audiences effectively. Adeoluwa’s proactive and dynamic approach to his role ensures that CUC’s communications strategy remains robust, engaging, and aligned with the council’s mission and values.
