CUC Theological Education Funds (TEF) bursaries are intended to assist Canadian Unitarians with expenses incurred annually while studying for the Ministry. Eligibility requirements include:
- Canadian citizenship, or non-Canadians currently working or studying in Canada
- Candidate status* with the Unitarian Universalist Association’s Ministerial Credentialling Office;
- Be in second and subsequent years of study or recognized internship. The maximum number of years to receive a bursary is three.
*Aspirants may be approved in special circumstances only, where there is an acceptable reason for no more than a 6-month delay in their candidate-application process. A TEF grant in this case would be given only after candidate status was achieved.
Contributions to the Theological Education Funds come from special collections taken at services of ordination and installation of ministers in our CUC congregations, transfers of income from First Unitarian Congregation of Toronto’s MacKie-Jenkins Fund, and transfers of income from the Percy Simpson Bailey Fund.
Disbursements are made by the CUC Board on the recommendation of the Board’s Theological Education Committee. The deadline for applications is March 31.
Please send all inquiries to the Theological Education Funds Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students who have been granted Candidate Status are also eligible to apply for scholarships from the UUA:
- The UUA’s Ministerial Credentialing Office scholarship funds: available to students who are in aspirant or candidate status and who are enrolled in a Master of Divinity degree program leading to fellowship as a Unitarian Universalist (UU) minister.
