Supporting the Dawning Future – Youth and Young Adult Subsidy

Purpose:

This subsidy’s goal is to help make it easier for youth and young adults to attend regional, national and continental conferences and leadership development opportunities. The CUC recognizes that Youth and Young Adults are our dawning future, and that attending these events, especially for individuals who are isolated geographically, is an important way for our youth and young adults to build connections within their larger communities and to find space for their own spiritual enrichment and growth.

Process:

This subsidy can be applied for year round and applicants will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis per event (after other criteria has been considered).
Please note: subsidy applications must be received at least 3 weeks prior to the events to be considered.

Possible opportunities this subsidy could be applied to include:

  • CanUUdle or the CUC Annual Conference and Meeting
  • CUC Regional Youth Cons
  • CUC Regional Fall Gatherings
  • OWL “Weekend Cons”
  • UU-UNO Spring Seminar
  • OPUS
  • Annual Young Adult Weekend at Unicamp
  • cluster Youth or Young Adult Cons or retreats
  • Chrysalis Trainings
  • OWL Trainings

Successful applicants can be awarded up to $200 to use to offset costs associated with attending the event.

Edward Bevan Ratcliffe Leadership Development Subsidy

Purpose:

This subsidy’s goal is to help make it easier for leaders to attend regional, national and continental conferences and leadership development opportunities.  The CUC recognizes that encouraging leaders serving their congregations in the areas of worship, lifespan learning, governance, growth and other areas of shared ministry, to attend regional and national conferences, and other leadership development opportunities is an important way of building capacity building and serves the CUC’s mission of Growing Vital Religious Communities in Canada.

Criteria:

Leaders who may apply for this financial support include: religious educators, congregational board members, youth advisors, lay chaplains, ministers as well as other lay persons of all ages who serving their congregations in other volunteer or paid capacities. Please download the subsidy application form for more details about the selection criteria.

Process:

This subsidy can be applied for year round and applicants will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis per event (after other criteria has been considered).
***Please note: subsidy applications must be received at least 2 – 3 weeks prior to the events to be considered.

Possible opportunities this subsidy could be applied to include:

  • attending the CUC Annual General Meeting as a delegate
  • a “learning stream” at the CUC Annual Conference and Meeting or a CUC Regional Fall Gathering
  • Goldmine Youth Leadership School
  • OWL facilitator training
  • the LREDA Fall Con
  • a UU Musician’s Network event
  • Chrysalis Trainings
  • lay chaplaincy training

Applications will be considered on an individual basis and the amount awarded will be based on need and circumstances.
