PURPOSES OF REGIONAL FALL GATHERINGS
Each region hosts a
Regional Fall Gathering in a different location each
year. To make it easily accessible, we try to ensure that
over 3-4 years it's in every part of the region so that
everyone has a "drive-to" option at least on occasion.
These have an average
attendance of 100 including adults, youth and children. A
youth program, often sleeping in the church building, is
run, with youth joining the main gathering at key points.
Child care, young fun and sometimes junior youth (age
12-14) and/or special young adult (18-35) programming is
planned.
The key
purposes of Regional Fall Gatherings are opportunities
for:
-
Five to six
hour training sessions in education, practical congregational
leadership topics and
spiritual
development,
-
Gathering
regionally to build and renew friendships and to
celebrate the distinctive
qualities and character of the region,
-
Participation in a CUC board
“Info and Input” forum where individuals can
give direct feedback on present and future CUC
business and goals.
The
gatherings are planned on a cost-recovery basis with
registration fees covering all direct costs of the
gatherings. Registration fees are under $150.
To
assist youth in the region to attend, on your registration
form there is the option of giving an additional donation
to support youth attendance.
This year, there may not be an all region gathering
in each of our regions. However we are committed
to supporting events that provide opportunities for our
congregational leaders and members to gather, perhaps in
smaller ‘clusters’, to meet and learn with other UUs.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.

CLUSTER WORKSHOPS
Cluster workshops are hosted by a congregation, usually
where the subject matter is a priority for their own
congregation, but open to any others in the area.
Often
we actively pursue additional registrants to both increase
the quality (wider perspectives and discussion) and to
reduce the per participant cost.
Cost
for attendance is usually very low and at most pays for
food, refreshments and course materials such as handouts
and recommended books.
Honoraria and travel expenses of facilitators are paid
from the CUC Program budgets. Your congregation's annual
program contribution is the largest revenue source for the
CUC and programs such as these are your
return-on-investment.
Some
topics offered recently as "cluster workshops" include:
Financial Stewardship (Dreams & Dollars) and Committee
Leadership (one-day program).
Your
Director of Regional Services (Linda
Thomson) or our National Director of Lifespan Learning,
Sylvia Bass West can provide you with information about
hosting a workshop open to others in your area.
CONGREGATIONAL WORKSHOPS
Workshops designed specifically for your congregation are
available on a wide variety of topics.
