Past President
John Hopewell was born in England and emigrated to Canada in 1967. In his working career he was an accountant in banking and then in government. He and his wife, Gloria, have been Unitarians since 1979. He has served on the Board of First Unitarian Church of Victoria as Treasurer and as President. He also served on the Board of the Canadian Unitarian Council from 1994–2000, including three years as President, and more recently completed a one-year term on the Board. He was winner of the Knight Award in 2003. Currently he is co-Chair of the Active Democracy Study Group.
