Come ready to listen, learn and share…racial justice is a key element of our UU Principles.

Tony Turner is a Unitarian based in Nanaimo BC.  He began seriously writing and performing his own songs in the early 1990s.  Ten years later he introduced his songs to First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa.  Over time Tony led a folk group, contributed his songs to services and participated in congregational concerts. Tony also became a youth advisor. In addition, Tony occasionally took his music on the road performing at clubs, folks festivals and numerous Unitarian churches. He also organized and participated in benefits and rallies for various worthy causes in his home community.

Tony has recorded 3 critically acclaimed albums of his original tunes – musical portraits of love, nature, regular working folk and observations on life delivered with his rich baritone singing voice. A writer with a social conscience, Tony penned the protest song Harperman in 2015, which became the centrepiece of political rallies across Canada and garnered the writer an international Spirit of Folk award.  Tony’s much-loved anthem Circle of Song was recently published in  Rise Again, the sequel to the popular Rise Up Singing folk songbook.
