I was shocked to learn that the most experienced staff were let go. after hiring so many new staff, so recently. This is the same short sighted policy used in the pharmacy industry. When budgets are squeezed, let the senior researchers go, hire new grads, and hope they can do the same quality of work at the same speed, and that the stakeholders do not lose confidence. As a former CUC Board member I suggest only 1 face to face meeting of a new Board at the end of the CUC ACM, followed by the use of SKYPE at more frequent meetings.
