John MichellTreasurer

Mich was raised an Anglican, but lapsed during university. After not being attached to a church for decades he joined the Unitarian Church of Calgary in March 2001, and soon began taking on responsibilities in the workings of the church. He is a past Treasurer of the church, a past chair and current member of the Church’s Administration committee, and he chaired the local arrangements committee for the 2005 Western Region Fall Gathering at Calgary. He installed and maintains the church’s network server and computers, is running a series of training sessions for the church staff, and is on the team installing a new church information system.

He writes: “I am interested in making things work. I spent my career in technical and managerial roles, including several years as a technical trainer, and now am a consultant in computer networking. I find the church community a spiritual home, and I am proud of the church’s social justice initiatives. I enjoy singing in the church choir, participating in services when invited, and attending services with my wife Duff and daughter Christine, who was one of the leaders of the Pride Rainbow Project.”
