Glenda Butt

Glenda ButtSecretary

Glenda arrived at the UU Church of Halifax in the late 1970s and signed the membership book in 1984.  She had a wonderful childhood growing up in the picturesque town of Corner Brook, Newfoundland (and Labrador), which included developing a positive attitude toward church life in the United Church of Canada.

Dalhousie University brought Glenda to Halifax, where she later returned to become a professor and Director of the School of Dental Hygiene.

In the 1990s Glenda served as the church’s Finance Chair for two years including organizing the annual canvass. She did a four year Vestry/Board term including serving as President from 2003-07, and chaired the Vision and Vitality committee. She currently chairs the Human Resources committee, co-chairs the Committee on Shared Ministry and serves on the Planet Group and Green Sanctuary Team.

Retired since 2008, Glenda now continues her active lifestyle and work in the UUCH, shares life’s treasures with soul mate Franklin, and is loving the connections with the seven wonderful university students she and Franklin have helped adjust to life in our university city of Halifax.
